Overview

3 days + 2 nights of Tasmanian mountain bike goodness!

On Day 1 we will ride some of the awesome local trails around Hobart before heading to Maydena, where you will ride for the next 2 days before being dropped off at the airport or your accommodation in Hobart.

On the trails around Hobart, you will ride breathtaking and well-crafted trails on Mount Wellington and the maze of mountain bike madness at the Meehan Range.

We will then head to Maydena late in the day to your accommodation and world class gravity trails.

You will be accommodated in quality AirBnB’s, shuttled in a late model 14 seater Toyota Hiace with a custom made, enclosed, lockable bike trailer. As well as riding, you will have opportunities to experience some of Tasmania’s amazing wilderness, food and cultural attractions.


Itinerary

This itinerary for a Hobart mountain bike tour is an example of what you could do. Together we can adapt to suit your plane arrival time, priorities and choices.

Day 1 Ride Hobart

Morning: 

Plane arrives at Hobart Airport.

We will meet you at the oversized luggage pickup point. You might wish to get into your riding gear at the airport, as we are going to get you straight into some local trails on the Meehan Range. We’ll have a quick snack on the way and re-assemble your bikes at the beginning of the ride.

The Meehan Ranges: On the outskirts of Hobart contain a complex network of tracks and trails which make a great playground for beginner through to advanced riders.  The best way to discover these trails is with someone who already knows them (Phil), or just download the ‘Trailforks’ app and go exploring.


Afternoon:

Lunch in Hobart.

We will drive up to ‘The Springs’ on Mount Wellington, to commence riding the North-South track (approx 12km). The trail starts at around 720m and descends down to nearly sea level.This purpose built trail is suited to riders of moderate ability but has lots of extras for those wanting greater challenges. The forest, views and riding terrain are constantly changing and few go home disappointed! The trail concludes at the Glenorchy Mountain Bike Park. You could easily spend another couple of hours exploring here if you have the legs for it!

At the conclusion of the North South Trail and Glenorchy MTB bike, we will rack the bikes and head for Maydena.

We  will book the group in for dinner at a local establishment


Day 2

Morning:

Breakfast at accommodation

The Maydena MTB Park opens at 9.30am, so we will aim to be there around 9.00 to get the first shuttle. The shuttles take around 30 minutes to get to the top and you could expect it to take that long to get back down. Depending on your fitness and riding ability, you could expect to get 4-6 runs in per day.

Good healthy and affordable  lunches can be purchased at the MTB Park.The last shuttle runs at 4pm.

Back to accommodation to freshen up before heading out to designated dinner location.


Day 3

Breakfast at your accommodation.

Pack up and depart accommodation.

Enjoy riding your second day at this awesome MTB Park.

Late afternoon. Back on the bus and back to be dropped of at either your accommodation in Hobart or to the Hobart airport.
