Trail Description
The North-South Track is suitable for mountain bike riders of intermediate ability. For the more advanced riders, there are some more challenging features located on side loops, including log rides, drops, and jumps.
It's mostly downhill, though there is a short climb in the first section of the trail. The 10km trail flows into Glenorchy MTB Park, where there are more trails to ride. There are some fun intermediate flowy descents, climbing trails, and table top jumps. For the more advanced riders, there's also some dirt jumps and a double black downhill track.
Navigating The Trail
The North-South Track has trails signs throughout the trail and is straightforward to navigate.
The Glenorchy MTB Park is also well signed.
Online Trail Map On Your Phone
As a back-up, we advise using an online trail map, accessible through a web enabled mobile phone.
Our preferred online trail map solution is the website Trailforks.com, or its mobile phone app.
Trailforks works like Google Maps, but for mountain bike trails. You have real-time GPS tracking and trail information at your fingertips.
Here is the link to the online trail map:

We recommend testing Trailforks before you hit the trails.
After Glenorchy MTB Park
Once you've finished riding the bike park you'll need to make your way back to South Hobart to return the hire bike. There are two options:
- Ride the Intercity Cycleway - this flat paved cycleway follows the old railway line between Glenorchy and Hobart. It's about 14 km back to the office and takes approx 60 mins to ride.
This is the most popular option for customers who've hired a manual mountain bike.
Google Map - Intercity Cycleway to our office: https://goo.gl/maps/7UCpFf67pijf6XRh8 - Ride back up the North-South Track - on a manual bike, this is a very challenging and tiring uphill climb (allow 2.5 hours). However, if you've hired an e-bike, the climb is relatively easy and good fun (allow 1.25 hours).
When you arrive back to the start of the North-South Track, there are some great intermediate level trails that descend into South Hobart.
North South Track into South Hobart
There are several trails coming off the North-South Track that will lead you back to South Hobart.
We recommend using a trail navigation app for this ride. Our first choice is the phone app/website, Trailforks. www.trailforks.com
Its trail map and real-time GPS tracking will help you find your way down, and prevent getting lost!
Our staff can help with trail information and advice.
